Tappan-Zee Bridge, New York State
The newly constructed Bridge improves traffic flow through eight general traffic lanes and space for disabled vehicles, buses and emergency vehicles. Tappan Zee Constructors LLC (TZC) has incorporated functional spaces such as, six uniquely themed Belvederes along the shared use pathway which begins at the Westchester landing in Tarry Town and concludes in Rochester.
Anthony Franze` worked closely with TZC to develop the bespoke canopy, perforated panels, way finding, transformative gate and louvers that delineate the perimeter and enclose the shared utility building behind. The perforated Cor-Ten panels describe the Hudson River and their entire length and were para-metrically modeled to allow As-Built adjustments. The stainless-steel canopy features custom glass inserts, integrated security features and lighting.
Along the bridge’s length are six unique Belvederes offering an unsurpassed experience for tourists and locals alike. Each stop incorporates local historical insights of Tarry Town and Rochester. Anthony Franze` worked in conjunction with the broader UAP team to develop the original design intent into a functional design that incorporates human factors, safety, structural, electrical, coatings, hardware and fixings and manufacturing considerations. A comprehensive technical package including NC Cut files, BOM and install coordination is supplied for fabrication & assembly.
